A Verification of Competency (VOC) serves as a thorough assessment of an individual’s knowledge and skills, ensuring they are aptly qualified for specific tasks or to operate particular machinery. This process aids employers in adhering to their Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) obligations by confirming that staff members are proficient and capable of executing tasks or managing plant and equipment safely and effectively.

VOC prerequisites are tailored to specific sites and/or companies. Should a company you are employed by, or a work-site you are visiting, require a current VOC for a particular piece of machinery or task, compliance with this request is mandatory to proceed with the work.

VOC assessments are conducted on individuals who already possess a valid ticket, license, or unit of competency, with the aim to affirm their sustained proficiency to the established standard. Those undergoing a VOC must furnish evidence of their existing competency. The VOC process culminates in a Statement, detailing the verified activities or tasks and/or the plant and equipment validated. It is imperative to note that it does not fulfill the criteria for issuing a nationally accredited unit of competency.
