Course Details
Who this course is for
Anyone in a workplace who may be called on to respond to a small fire before emergency services arrive — including floor wardens, designated first responders, tradespeople on active sites, facility staff, warehouse workers, and workers in high-fire-risk areas. Equally suitable for construction sites, commercial buildings, warehouses, offices, schools, aged-care facilities and government buildings.
What you’ll learn
- Identify fire types and classifications (A, B, C, D, E, F) and match the correct extinguisher to each
- Safely operate portable fire extinguishers using the PASS technique against a simulated live fire
- Correctly deploy, operate and re-roll a fire hose reel
- Use a fire blanket to smother a small fire or wrap a person on fire
- Recognise when a fire is too big for first-attack response — and when to evacuate instead
- Explain extinguisher types and use to colleagues during a workplace drill
How you’re assessed
Short written knowledge check (multiple choice and short-answer) plus a practical demonstration on live training equipment — extinguish a simulated fire with the correct extinguisher, deploy a hose reel, and use a fire blanket. Assessment is conducted by a CCT-qualified trainer and assessor.
